Howdy! I’m Joseph, a pipeline TD at the BYU Center for Animation. Right now I’m the sole pipeline TD on Sandwich Kwon Do, our 2027 capstone film: 50-some artists, about a hundred shots, and a release date in April. Before that I did pipeline work on Honey Business.

My favorite part of the job is the conversation with artists. I’ve shipped plenty of tools that were wrong the first time. My previs sequencer assumed one file per sequence, and our three previs artists set me straight pretty quickly. The version that works is the one we built after they told me why.

I also write graphics code to understand the tools our artists use. Cenote , my GPU path tracer, started because I wanted to know what a renderer is actually doing when a lighter waits on it. There’s also a physics engine and a Game Boy emulator you can play in your browser .

I’m looking for TD internships and early-career roles at animation and VFX studios, and I graduate in April 2027. Here’s my resume . You can reach me at [email protected] , on GitHub , or on LinkedIn .
